(Photo from Seismological Bureau)A total of 114 earthquakes, most of less than magnitude 3.0, were recorded in six northern provinces in January, according to the Chiang Mai-based Seismology Bureau of the Meteorological Department. The six provinces are Mae Hong Son, Chiang Mai, Chiang Rai, Phrae, Nan and Tak. Of the total, more than 90 tremors occurred in Chiang Mai, mostly in Chom Thong and Mae Wang districts. The Seismology Bureau will keep monitoring the quakes so it can readily respond to emergencies, said Mr Adisorn.
